Stauffers - Harison, NY — 1981

The December 1980 fire killed 26 people and gutted the conference center. Stouffer's reopened on April 4, 1981 — the same year on the family list.

Why it matters

Likely post-fire masonry reconstruction focused on damaged exterior masonry/brick veneer and interior brick areas, plus any fire-separation or opening rebuilds required during the 1981 restoration. The NFPA report confirms masonry-and-brick construction in the conference facility, but the exact Kelly package still requires the reconstruction drawings/specifications.

Scope confidence

Strong

Likely fire-damage masonry reconstruction: rebuilding CMU fire/service walls, brick/block partitions and damaged exterior/interior masonry during the rapid 1981 restoration after the fatal 1980 fire.

This scope is recorded as strong, not documented. It is a disciplined reading of the building and the trade practice of the period, not a contract-level record of Kelly’s work.

Harrison planning records continued to process the Renaissance Harrison project at 80 West Red Oak Lane through 2025–26. The plan would replace the shuttered hotel site with a large residential mixed-use community; the Harrison school district projected the 736-unit project across 2027–29.
