Before Pan Am could put a Boeing 747 into passenger service, crews had to learn to fly a machine unlike anything before it. Contemporary evidence confirms simulator-based 747 training in New York before the airline's first jumbo-jet flights in 1970. Rita's entry points to that hidden classroom of the Jet Age.
