“Toots Shor Restaurant — 1960”
Toots Shor’s second restaurant broke ground at 33 West 52nd Street in October 1960 and opened the following year. It was famous for the athletes, actors, newspapermen and politicians who treated it like a clubhouse.
Toots Shor's second restaurant was designed as a five-million-dollar clubhouse for athletes, entertainers and politicians. Ground was broken in October 1960 and the doors opened in 1961, placing Joseph's entry at the construction of a vanished New York institution.
