By 1987, Kelly was working on one of New York’s great Beaux-Arts clubhouses.

New York Yacht Club - W. 44 Street — 1987

The 44th Street clubhouse was designed by Whitney Warren and completed in 1901. Its famous projecting windows resemble ship sterns, and the Model Room became the building’s symbolic heart.

Why it matters

Most likely selective interior masonry alteration/restoration—CMU/backing, openings/infill, localized brick/stone support and service-area work. The later 1992 exterior stone restoration is a separate campaign, so Kelly should not be credited with the clubhouse's carved limestone façade absent direct records.

Scope confidence

Probable

Likely: likely selective interior masonry alteration/restoration—opening/infill work, localized brick/stone repair, CMU partitions/backing or support conditions—rather than the later 1992 exterior stone restoration. Do not attribute the famous carved limestone façade to Kelly without period restoration records.

This scope is recorded as probable, not documented. It is a disciplined reading of the building and the trade practice of the period, not a contract-level record of Kelly’s work.
